Matthew Barber LPC

My practice specializes in helping individuals with OCD, social anxiety, panic attacks, generalized anxiety, and existential concerns. My approach is based in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which works by changing your relationship with anxiety or unwanted thoughts rather than trying to reduce or control them (which often fails, resulting in avoidance or even more rumination).

During our first session, we will explore your current symptoms, what you are looking for in therapy, and begin to identify some actionable goals based on your values. We will learn how anxiety or avoidance may have impacted your life, and begin to explore ways to make space for uncontrollable inner experiences while simultaneously moving towards the life you want to live. At the same time, our sessions will be organic, creative, and collaborative, with plenty of flexibility to spend time talking about other issues and feelings that come up as you live life while in therapy. While I provide structure and tools, you will always been in charge of your treatment goals and therapy will feel like a collaboration.

Outside of therapy, I love hiking, rollerblading, skateboarding, tinkering, and making coffee.

  • I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology and a Master of Science (MS) in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia and Colorado.

My training and background emphasized “holism", which is a philosophy that emphasizes the individual in their entirety rather than categorizing or using reductionist logic. This approach emphasizes personal growth and self-actualization as the primary goals as opposed to symptom-reduction.

During college, I volunteered in research labs studying the effects of mindfulness, meditation, and openness on metrics of psychological wellbeing. I’ve always been fascinated by drugs. I have worked in a variety of treatment settings with experience in general mental health counseling, addiction counseling, facilitating group therapy, and working with individuals and couples in an outpatient group practice.

Grace Bryan LCSW

My practice specializes in helping young women and queer individuals struggling with people-pleasing, confidence issues, and boundaries within family and intimate relationships. I love to help my clients find their voice, learn to listen to their emotions without being ruled by them, and enact healthier boundaries that reflect their worth and values. I also specialize in play and expressive art therapy for children and adolescents. My style is warm and non-judgemental in its foundation, but direct and evidence-based.

My approach is rooted in person-centered philosophy and positive psychology, while drawing from evidence-based tools from DBT, CBT, and ACT. My goal for therapy is focused more on personal growth instead of symptom reduction, as I try to emphasize each client as a whole person and not a diagnosis.

It's hard to figure out who you are when you're always trying to keep everyone else happy. But you deserve to value your own needs without feeling guilt or shame. In therapy, we will navigate these complicated dynamics together so you can feel empowered, confident, and aligned with your own values.

Outside of the office, I love thrifting, interior design and decorating, cooking, baking, hiking, traveling, and spending time with our two dogs.

  • I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Art (BA) in Sculpture and later my Master of Social Work (MSW). I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia and Colorado.

I have a creative background, studying sculpture for my undergraduate program, exploring themes around identity. As a biracial person, I loved using my work to explore the nuances of racial identity in the United States. This led to an interest in social psychology and finding a way to apply my interests to help others.

I have experience working in a variety of treatment settings including a children’s clinic and school-based program, substance use treatment, and outpatient private practice therapy. I have training in play therapy, sand tray, and expressive therapies.
